Scheduling Replication

Schedules enable you to create replicas of a volume or volume collection at a specific time in the future or create replicas on a regular basis.

When scheduling replication, be sure to consider the capacity of the network link between the group and the replication partners. If a replication is still in progress when the next replication of the volume is scheduled to start, the scheduled replication will not start, and a message will be logged on the primary group. When a replication is skipped, more data will probably need to be transferred in the next replication.

Note: If you have a slow network connection between partners, consider using manual transfer replication for the first replication of a volume. See Displaying Replication Status for more information. If you are using manual transfer replication for a volume, do not create a replication schedule for the volume until after the first replication is complete.

Before you can create a replica schedule for a volume or volume collection, you must enable replication on the volume and on the collection, as described in Configuring a Volume or Volume Collection for Replication.
