Performance is slow. Can I increase the performance of the simulator?

Here are a few things that might help:

• Try giving more memory to the simulator using the setup.sh script.
• Check that your Linux system isn’t using swap space constantly. vmstat and top should give you an indication as to the actual amount of memory used by the simulator and the amount of swap in use.
• Ensure that your simulator is running on decent speed disk storage. Why not use NFS to mount a real filer from the Linux host?
• Try disabling the APM daemon in Linux.
• If you have terrible slow downs every 10 seconds and have disabled the memory hack, re-enable it. By default all new simulators have this option enabled so it is less likely you should experience it.
• If you are using a cluster then check that you allocated double the memory you required to each simulator. Proof that this is your problem is shown in sysstat with a “CP type” of L (low memory). See the requirements for more information on minimum memory requirements.
