Can I simulate a power failure? Can I simulate a Filer head unit failure?

Simulation of a power failure is useful for testing functionality such as clustering or to demonstrate how hosts react to a Filer that fails.

With the simulator running press the key combination [CTRL-N] to simulate power loss. You will be immediately returned to the Linux prompt when pressed. You can restart the simulator using the script runsim.sh
