Is it possible to SnapMirror/Vault between the simulator and a real Filer

Simulator as the SnapMirror secondary: You probably won’t be able to use the simulator as the destination (secondary) as the disk sizes in the simulator are smaller than the real Filers disk until future Filer functionality exists for small volume creation.

Simulator as the SnapMirror primary: You can use the simulator as the source (primary) as Data ONTAP will allow mirroring from a smaller volume to a larger volume.

Qtree SnapMirror and SnapVault

As long as the amount of data you wish to mirror/vault will fit in your simulator then you can use the simulator as either a primary or a secondary.

Warning!

Do not to use the simulator as a “backup” for a production system as this would be a violation of the license agreement and would probably result in weeping phone calls to support when you can’t recover your data.
