Directory Server is a scalable, high-performance LDAP data store for identity information. This procedure explains how to set up Directory Server so that you can perform tests such as LDAP searches on example data.
If you have created some servers using the command line and these servers do not appear in the list of directory servers, you can add them to the list. See To Register a Server.
When you create the suffix, use the suffix name dc=example,dc=com and choose the option to import sample data.
DSCC now contains sample data that you can use to try out Directory Server.
If you have already created a suffix, you can import data at any time from the file Example.ldif. You can find Example.ldif in the installation path.
