To Get Started With Directory Proxy Server

Directory Proxy Server is an LDAP application layer protocol gateway that delivers enhanced directory access control, schema compatibility, and high availability. This procedure explains how to set up a Directory Proxy Server.

1. If you have not already done so, create one or more directory servers and suffixes and import some data. Use the procedure To Get Started with Directory Server.
2. Create a proxy server. Use the procedure To Create a New Server.
3. Create one or more data sources that point to an existing LDAP directory server. Use the procedure To Manage Data Sources.
4. Specify the data source.

   Do one of the following:

   • If you want to use the default data source pool, add the data sources to the list of data sources to be routed through the default data source pool. To do this, click Proxy Servers tab, a server name, then Routing tab, then Data Source Pools tab. Click defaultDataSourcePool to edit the properties. Choose the data sources to add.

   • If you do not want to use the default data source pool, create one or more data source pools that point to the data sources you created previously. If you want to create a data source pool, use the procedure To Manage Data Source Pools.

5. Optionally, create new data views, connection policies and connection handlers.

   If you do not create new data views, connection policies and connection handlers, Directory Proxy Server will use the default ones.

   • To create a data view, use the procedure To Manage Data Views.

   • To create a connection policy, use the procedure To Manage Policies.

   • To create a connection handler for routing data to data views, use the procedure To Manage Data Views.
