After you have modified the indexes, from the drop-down menu on the Indexes tab, do one of the following:
Regenerate indexes. After you choose this option, select which indexes to regenerate. Regenerating many indexes can take a long time.
Reinitialize the suffix. You must export your data and choose Initialize Suffix With Data to reinitialize the suffix. The indexes are automatically regenerated as part of the reinitializing process. If you have many entries and you are modifying several indexes, this option is probably faster.
Starting with Directory Server Enterprise Edition 7.0, Directory Server instances explicitly report whether an index needs to be regenerated. In Directory Service Control Center 7.0, the Status column displays the status of each index entry is added under the Indexes tab.
For detailed information on managing indexes, see the Oracle Fusion Middleware Administrator’s Guide for Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition.
For a description of how indexing is implemented in Directory Server, see the Oracle Fusion Middleware Reference for Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition 11g Release 1 (11.1.1).
