To Create, Delete, View, or Modify Suffixes

• Click Directory Servers tab then Suffixes tab. Click the appropriate button, or select a suffix checkbox and choose an action from the drop-down menu.

  • View all suffixes on all servers. This is the default view. For more information about the suffix table, see Suffixes Tab Information.

  • Create a new suffix.

  • View a graphical image of the replication topology.

  • Browse the suffix data.

  • Copy a suffix configuration from one suffix to one or more other suffixes.

  • Regenerate indexes on a suffix.

  • Initialize a suffix with data (by using either an LDIF file or a replication agreement).

  • Export a suffix to LDIF.

  • Enable or disable replication on a suffix.

  • Promote or demote a suffix in a replication topology. This is used to change the replication role of a suffix. If you promote a consumer, it becomes a hub. If you promote a hub, it becomes a master. You cannot promote a server directly from consumer to master. You must first promote the consumer to a hub, then promote the hub to a master. Likewise, when demoting a master to a consumer, you must demote the master to hub before demoting from hub to consumer.

  • Connect two or more suffixes through replication.

  • Delete a suffix.

  • Add a subsuffix. To do this, create a new suffix. When typing the suffix name, type the full DN of the subsuffix.

  • Enable or disable suffix access. To do this, click a suffix name to view a drop-down menu which contains Enable Suffix Access and Disable Suffix Access.
