When using DSCC there are a number of logins used for administration.
Operating System user. The OS user who creates a server instance is the only user who has the right to run OS commands on a server instance through dsadm. DSCC (Directory Service Control Center) might request the OS User password for some operations.
The Directory Service Manager manages server configuration and data on multiple machines through DSCC. This user has the same rights as Directory Manager for each of the servers registered in DSCC. To configure Directory Service Manager, use the procedure To Configure Directory Service Manager.
Directory Manager is the LDAP superuser for a directory server. The default DN is cn=Directory Manager.
Proxy Manager is the LDAP superuser for a proxy server. The default DN is cn=Proxy Manager. To configure the Proxy Manager, click Proxy Servers tab, a server name, Server Configuration tab, then Administration tab.
