You are here: PS Series Group Administration > Member Management > Managing the Disk Array > Changing the Member RAID Policy
Once you select a RAID policy for a member, you can convert the RAID policy only if the new policy requires less disk space than the current policy. For example, you can perform only the following RAID policy conversions:
If a member has a RAID policy that cannot be converted, you can change the policy only by removing the member from the group, re-adding it to the group, and then setting the desired RAID policy.
To change the RAID policy for a member, click:
Members > member_name > Modify RAID configuration
The Modify RAID Configuration dialog box appears (Figure 10: Modify RAID Configuration ), displaying the current RAID policy. As you choose a new RAID policy, the values in the table are updated, showing the new member capacity statistics.

In addition, if you previously selected to delay using the member’s disk space until the RAID verification completes and batteries are fully charged, you can disable this functionality by selecting Immediately expand group capacity (recommended setting). If Immediately expand group capacity is selected, member space will be immediately available; however, member performance will not be optimal while the RAID verification is in progress.
Click OK to complete the RAID policy change. While the RAID policy is changed, the member’s RAID status will be expanding.
