Making an Inbound Replica Set Promotion Permanent

If you are certain that the original volume is destroyed on the primary group (or if you want to switch roles in a replication configuration), you can make the promotion of an inbound replica set permanent. This will convert the recovery volume to a volume that cannot be demoted to the original inbound replica set.

To make the promotion of an inbound replica set permanent, follow these steps:

1. On the secondary group, select the recovery volume in the far left panel.
2. In the Activities panel of the Volume Status window, click Make promote permanent.
3. In the Convert Recovery Volume - Volume Settings dialog box (Figure 23: Convert Recovery Volume - Volume Settings ), specify a volume name, optional description, and storage pool. You must change the volume name. Then, click Next.

4. In the Convert Recovery Volume - iSCSI Access dialog box (Figure 24: Convert Recovery Volume - iSCSI Access ), specify access controls for the new volume.

5. In the Convert Recovery Volume - Summary dialog box (Figure 25: Convert Recovery Volume - Summary ), ensure that the information is correct and click Finish. To make changes, click Back.

The resulting volume will no longer be flagged as a recovery volume.
