Traps are unsolicited event messages provided to the management console by the agent. The PS Series array SNMP traps can be categorized into equipment issues and security issues.
To send SNMP traps to a destination, click:
Group Configuration > SNMP tab
The Group SNMP window appears (Figure 16: Group SNMP ).
First, configure an SNMP community name, as described in Configuring SNMP Read-Only Access.
Then, in the SNMP Traps panel, click Add. In the Add list item dialog box, specify the IP address where SNMP traps (event messages) will be sent and click OK. You can specify up to five IP addresses. All will receive traps.
To modify or delete a trap destination, select the IP address and click Modify or Delete, as desired.
The SNMP trap community name is used when sending SNMP traps. The default name is SNMP-trap. To change the SNMP trap community name, in the Group SNMP window (Figure 16: Group SNMP ) enter a new name in the SNMP Trap community name field. Names must be unique and contain up to 64 alphanumeric characters. Commas are not allowed.
The PS Series array MIBs (Management Information Bases) contain information about the traps and trap thresholds. If you have a support account, you can download and view the MIBs from the Technical Support website. Log in to a support account and click on Downloads. Click the link for your PS Series Firmware version, then click MIBS.
The MIBs are collected in an archive. You can open this archive and view the individual MIBs or you can download the archive and store it on your system. To use MIBs, you must install them on a management station, as required by the management tools.
Not all traps apply to all array models.
