Binding a Volume to a Specific Member

You can configure a volume so that the group stores the volume data on one specific pool member, instead of allowing the volume data to be distributed across multiple members. If you restrict a volume to one member, you will not obtain performance benefits from load balancing data and network connections across multiple members.

Note: Binding a volume to a specific member will override automatic performance and capacity load balancing and any RAID preference for the volume. See Controlling Performance Load Balancing and Setting a Volume RAID Preference for more information.

You can bind a volume only to a member that is in the pool to which the volume is assigned. In addition, if you bind a volume to a member and then delete that member from the pool or group, the volume bind will be cancelled.

To bind a volume to a member, you must use the Group Manager command line interface (CLI). You cannot use the GUI. See the PS Series CLI Reference manual for more information.
